Drake On Why Girls “Need” Beyoncé, His Resemblance To Blue Ivy, Rihanna And More

September 24, 2013  |

Everybody’s favorite emotional lyricist sat down with Chelsea Handler and Ryan Seacrest recently to promote his new album, Nothing Was The Same, which was released today. While chatting on Chelsea Lately, he talked to her about bearing a striking resemblance to Blue Ivy, if he’s still messing with Rihanna, and having the most hood fabulous Bar Mitzvah as a kid. On the other side of the fence, he chatted with Seacrest about why young girls need Beyoncé and on being a “Beyoncé believer.” Check out the interesting tidbits from both interviews:

Why he’s a Beyoncé believer:

“I’m a Beyoncé believer. I really believe strongly in her talent and her position in our generation. I think she’s one of the biggest stars ever, but especially for these girls right now. I feel like they need Beyoncé.”

On what he thinks of people saying the baby picture of him for his album looks like Blue Ivy:

“I guess it does sort of resemble [laughs]. It’s actually me [as a baby]. Me and Blue Ivy I guess look alike as children. But that was me was as a child, I did have a full afro.”

Why Nicki Minaj is not on his new album:

“I kind of like took control of this album and try to tell my story as much as possible and do as many of the verses, just myself. I felt like I had a lot to say. I do talk about Nicki on this album and how fond of her I am. But I did try to take charge of this album myself.”

On if he’s still “penetrating” Rihanna:

“We’re way past that. I need somebody new to penetrate by the way. You always bring up the old flings, I need something new.”

About his hood fabulous Bar Mitzvah:

“I grew up in a nice neighborhood, but my family didn’t have money. That’s a common misconception. People think I grew up wealthy or rich, I didn’t grow up rich. My mother was a hard-working woman and she did have us in a nice area because obviously she cared about her family. But we only had the basement of these other people’s houses. No we were not rich. So my Bar Mitzvah…kids were renting out the Sky Dome which is where the Toronto Blue Jays play. I was so jealous. My Bar Mitzvah was in an Italian restaurant, which I don’t know if that’s really Jewish of us [laughs]…I love Italian people so it worked for me.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m still stuck on him and Blue Ivy looking like they could be brother and sister with his baby picture. Anyway, check out his new album, Nothing Was The Same, which dropped today, and has plenty of Emo-rap jams to hold you over for the rest of 2013.
