All hail King Bey (again)!
The 32-year-old superstar won an Emmy award for Best Outstanding Lighting Design after her “lights out” performance during the Super Bowl halftime show in February. According to International Business Times, the esteemed award is a part of the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which is held a weekend before the televised Emmys air this Sunday from LA.
Although Jay-Z’s wife aired her own documentary on HBO during the same month as her Super Bowl performance, the academy thought it best for to award her for her sizzling performance which left the football stadium in a black-out after she left the stage. Bey was nominated in two other categories as well:
“Outstanding Special Class – Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Programs; Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Miniseries, Movie, or a Special, and Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special”
The Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sunday evening at 8pm on the CBS Network.
