She Ain’t Bout That Life: George Zimmerman’s Wife Files For Divorce
If George Zimmerman thought his life was going to be smooth sailing after that not guilty verdict was handed down in the Trayvon Martin case, he better think again. ABC news just reported the acquitted killer’s wife, Shellie, has filed for divorce.
This news comes less than two months after Zimmerman’s acquittal and only a few days after Shellie told ABC the stress of the Martin trial had put a major strain on the couple’s marriage. At the same time, Shellie had just pled guilty to perjury for lying about how much money the couple actually had when the judge was setting bail for her husband. She was subsequently sentenced to 100 hours of community service and one year of probation.
This news should come as a surprise to no one, in fact it’s more of a shock Shellie actually stayed with George all this time. In court, the 26-year-old set she felt “very much alone” without her husband there to support her as she pled guilty to the misdemeanor charge, not to mention the death threats they’ve received as a result of the Trayvon Martin controversy. She told ABC:
“I think we have been pretty much like gypsies…We’ve lived in a 20-foot trailer in the woods, scared every night that someone was going to find us and that we’d be out in the woods alone and that it would be horrific.”
Perhaps Shellie thinks this divorce will keep her safe. We shall see.
