Charli Baltimore Shares Why She Decided To Pass On Mona Scott-Young’s LHHNY Invite

You could probably count the number of actual celebrities who appeared as cast members (both past and present) on Love & Hip Hop using one hand. Sure they’re all famous now, but when it comes to those who were actually famous prior to appearing on the show, the numbers are pretty scare. It appears that this wasn’t Mona Scott-Young’s intention though. There’s constant chatter about celebs that she was courting to be on the show, for instance, Charli Baltimore. Rumors regarding Charli’s addition to the cast have been circulating for some time now, but after three seasons and no Charli, it seemed pretty safe to assume that it wasn’t happening. During a recent interview with Mara the Hip Hop Socialte, Charli opened up about why she decided to pass on her chance at reality TV stardom.

“I was in talks with Mona [Scott-Young] to do LHHNY last year. I don’t think I really fit the format for the show. I don’t know if I’d be comfortable having every aspect of my life in public. That really takes a certain kind of personality. I’m a rather private person for the most part and I had to take into consideration my daughters lives as well. If I was offered a different sort of show, I wouldn’t be opposed to it, and it’s awesome to see Mona single-handedly turn her show into an empire. I’m all for women empowerment,” she said.

She went on to share how she feels that he relationship with Biggie overshadowed her music.

“I feel there have been times, especially in the beginning of my career, when it did overshadow my music. But I can never not acknowledge his influence and initial vision for us to create a rap super group, The Commission. I’ve grown to accept and respect that BIG is and always will be hip-hop royalty, a legend, and an Icon. I embrace it at this point. I’ve come far enough in my career that I have my own fans and established my music in its own right.”

Charli definitely would’ve added an interesting twist to the show’s storyline.

Do you think it was wise for her to decline Mona’s LHHNY invite?
