While I’m excited for Aduba and Brooks, I had no idea they weren’t already “regulars” on the show. They’re absolutely hilarious!
Anywho, according to Shadow and Act, Uzo Aduba, who plays “Crazy Eyes” and Danielle Brooks, who plays the role of the smart but silly “Taystee” on the Netflix hit Orange Is The New Black, have been made series regulars for the second season of the comedy. This will be the first regular role on a television program for both Aduba and Brooks. Aduba is known for stage work while Brooks is straight out of Juilliard.
While there are a number of key actresses and a few actors who make up the cast, some are used for pure comedy, while a few characters actually have their back stories delved into. I’m hopeful that we’ll get to actually learn about why Crazy Eyes is as crazy as she is (including more about her adoptive parents), and a bit more about Taystee’s crazy self, and her path to prison.
Despite reviving Arrested Development and bringing in Kevin Spacey to star in the popular Netflix series House of Cards, Orange Is The New Black has managed to amass a larger following since it started streaming in July. The show has done better than any other program Netflix has released to the public, and because of that, they’re already shooting season two as we speak.
Super excited about it, and I’m hoping that Samira Wiley (who plays Poussey) will also get upgraded to a series regular.
Congrats to the ladies! Can’t wait to see what season two has to offer!
