‘Rip Van Roker’: Al Roker Hit The Snooze Button And Slept Through His Own Show
It happens to the best of us! You’ve been working hard (or playing hard) and one morning, you think you’re hitting the snooze button for 10 minutes more of precious sleep when you’re actually turning the alarm off entirely. A half hour later, you’re jumping out of bed like a chicken without a head. No way to start the day.
Yesterday morning, Al Roker was the victim of the old snooze button switcheroo. Only when Al Roker doesn’t show up for work, there’s a conspicuously empty spot in front of the TV camera. He missed his Weather Channel program, Wake Up With Al.
It’s the worst thing in the world to have to explain to a boss that the reason you’re late for work is “the alarm didn’t go off.” Here are three tips to make sure it doesn’t happen to you.
–The first one is discussed right in the clip below: have a backup. If you have a traditional alarm clock, set your phone. If you have a phone, get an alarm clock.
–Stagger your wake up times. If your alarm clock is set for 6am, set your phone for 6:15. That way, whether you miss the snooze button or not, you get the extra 15 minutes and the assured wake up call.
–Put the alarm across the room. If you have to get up to turn it off, the chances of you hitting snooze and climbing back into bed are slim.
This morning, his pals from the Today show — Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie — paid him a visit at The Weather Channel to make sure he made it to work on time. Maybe he took some of our advice!
