Going back to school nowadays is not just for the young people. Adults are looking to further their education to advance in their field or finish what they started in high school and college. If work or family diverted your schooling years ago and you are transitioning your way into becoming a student again this Fall, don’t fret. Although times have changed some, hard work and commitment will still lead you to graduation.
Make sure you are mentally, financially and emotionally ready to head back to the classroom with a few back-to-school tips for the working professional, juggling mother and wife and aspiring degree-holding woman.
Make realistic time for your studies
You know how difficult it is to concentrate on anything while the kids are crying, you’re cooking dinner, working on the big project at work, catching every happy hour event with co-workers or tending to the needs of your significant other? If you plan to go back to school with no time set aside for your studies, you are shortchanging yourself out of your education. Make sure you set aside a realistic time block for your studies, whether it be after the kids are in bed or during the day when everyone is out of the house. Juggle your current life as a mom and /or working professional with your future life as a student might not mesh as well as you would like, so it’s time to make changes.
