Time To Show And Prove: Lil Mama Joins T-Boz And Chilli On Stage For “No Scrubs”
We told you recently that after her turn playing Left Eye in the upcoming TLC biopic (which has had naysayers shocked at how close she resembles the late rapper in the trailer alone), Lil Mama was going to have the chance to do some touring with TLC, with the small lyricist playing the “L” in the trio. She was also said to be featured on future TLC songs alongside Chilli and T-Boz, but not as some form of a replacement for Left Eye, but just as a chance to showcase her talents alongside the legendary ladies. All of these plans are now in motion as Lil Mama performed with the two divas at the VH1 Mixtape Festival in Hershey Park, PA. While T-Boz and Chilli did some of the group’s greatest hits together, including “Creep” and “Waterfalls” with Left Eye’s vocals playing in the background, Lil Mama joined them for “No Scrubs.” She seemed to know the moves like the back of her hand and came out on level 10, giving a pretty good performance. After it was all said and done, she took to Twitter to share her excitement and to also remind folks that she has the utmost respect for Lisa and that T-Boz and Chilli are in no way trying to replace her:
Serial Experience Sharing the Sage with a Legendary Group. An Honor. #ilovelefteye #goneinflesh
I am as Big of Left Eye fan as many of you guys. I look at her as a precious iconic force of nature that can never be duplicated or replaced
Her hair stylist shared with me that Lisa would always say “Energy Transforms it Never Dies”. I too Believe this is True/Her Energy Lives On
Though Her Music, Knowledge, Love and Care She Has Shared with All Of Us. I Felt like a Little child on Stage Last Night Sharing Her Music.
A feeling That can’t be Downplayed or Taken away. TLC was and still to this Day a SisterHood. They Love and miss Lisa Very Much.
Forgive some of the typos.
So check out the clip above for yourself and let us know what you think. Aside from someone in the video saying “WHO THE F**K IS THAT!?” at the 2:51 mark (Lil Mama arrives at 2:40), we think she did well! What about you?
