DJ Khaled Explains Why He Didn’t Propose To Nicki In Person And What He’ll Do If She Says No…
We told you last week that DJ Khaled, out of all the people in the world, proposed to Nicki Minaj on MTV News, huge ring ready, in front of the world. The only thing that was missing from that somewhat romantic scene was Minaj. While she hasn’t responded as of yet to his proposal, there are rumors going around that she is looking to get a restraining order against the producer. But Khaled isn’t giving up, as he says, “I ain’t never give up on nothing I do.” In an interview with DJ Felli Fel on Power 106, Khaled explained why he didn’t propose to her in person, and what exactly he’ll do if she says no.
Why he actually proposed:
“I’m at a point in my career, I’m not a young boy anymore. I’m on my thinking the future, you know what I’m saying? I just had to be honest. I always liked her. She’s my friend of course. I like her, it’s more than a crush. I want to be honest, like, Fell you know me as a friend, I keep it real at all times. So I just wanted to let her know that I just feel like I understand her. I know she’s out there hustling and I respect that. I feel like I can take care of her and not just that, she’s beautiful.
Man listen, let me explain something to you. Am I wrong to say that she’s beautiful and she’s a hard-working woman, and she’s fly and she’s successful? Of course I want to marry her! I’m sure there’s other people that want to marry her but I felt like I just wanted to be honest and keep it 100. I love the girl! I like her.”
Why he didn’t propose to her face to face:
“The reason why I did that is because she is busy. You gotta understand, we live different lives…I respect that and I wanted to let her know that if we ever did tie the knot, people are going to eventually know, so I thought I’ll let the world know ASAP. I like Nicki Minaj, she’s beautiful, we’re both hardworking people, and I would love to have a future with her. She can say no, she can say yes, but I have to be honest and tell her I like her.”
What he’ll do if she says no:
“If she says no, it’s all love. She’s my friend. She might not be ready for marriage. I want kids, I want a lot of things, you know what I’m saying? But you gotta be ready for this. She might say yeah tonight or tomorrow, she might say yeah next year. What am I gonna do, give up? Never. I ain’t never give up on nothing I do. I’m out here with it. Nicki Minaj, I love you. Nicki Minaj, will you marry me? I ain’t changing that!”
I still don’t know if I’m buying this though. He says a whole lot of “I like her” and occasionally says he loves her, but it doesn’t really seem like he’s sure. That’s just my opinion though. Do you take his proposal seriously?
