Rihanna Pays Late Fee: Singer Gives Chicago High School $5K For Showing Up Tardy
Earlier this year, Rihanna was to make an appearance at a Chicago’s Barrington High School. In true Rihanna fashion, she arrived very late. So now the pop star is saying sorry with a monetary donation to the school. She is giving $5,000 to the suburban school to cover the costs of her brief appearance at the school, reports EUR.
Barrington Unit District 220 informed The Daily Herald that the money was sent to offset expenses for security and signs for her March trip to the school. There will be some money left over to be allocated for students.
According to EUR, Rihanna came to Chicago’s northwestern suburbs after the school won her “Shine Bright Like a Diamond” video contest. The school’s five-minute, student-produced film highlighted the school’s volunteer and community service programs.
Rihanna got there four hours late (!) on what was the first day of the school’s spring break. The students who waited did get free tickets, CDs and signed merchandise.
Rihanna has a little extra cash. She just inked a major deal with Budweiser, as we recently reported.
