Ja Rule And Adrienne Bailon Star In New Film, ‘I’m In Love With A Church Girl’
It hasn’t even been a full three months since Ja Rule’s prison release and he’s already hard at work. The 37-year-old rapper-turned-actor is starring in a film titled, I’m In Love with a Church Girl, alongside The Real host Adrienne Bailon.
The feature film is produced by Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Israel Houghton’s production company, Reverence Gospel Media and is schedule to be released to theaters October 18th. According to a recently distributed press release, the film will also star Stephen Baldwin.
The plot follows the age-old tale of a bad guy who falls for a good girl, but offers a religious twist.
“Based on a true story, the film stars Jeff “Ja Rule” Atkins who, as a successful entrepreneur haunted by a criminal past and surrounded by old friends still “in the life,” finds faith, redemption and inspiration when God puts a woman of faith (Adrienne Bailon) in his life,” an excerpt from the press release reads.
Houghton, who also contributed to the composition of the film’s screenplay, expressed that he has hopes of making a life-changing impact.
“We feel extraordinarily blessed to have been able to make this movie and can’t wait to see the impact it has on people’s lives,” said Houghton.
Gospel music revolutionary Donnie McClurkin is already singing the film’s praises.
“I’ve seen this movie, and am both moved and inspired by the story, the characters, and the quality of both movie and music,” the “We Fall Down” singer expressed.
Although I initially had my apprehensions about I’m in Love with a Church Girl, the trailer looks pretty promising. This could be a great look for Ja.
