Uncle Sam Slaps Damon Dash With $2.8 Million Tax Lien
A couple of months ago we reported on former Roc-a-fella Records CEO Damon Dash’s swelling financial woes. According to reports, the Harlem native owed $100,000 in unpaid rent, lost two of his New York City lofts due to foreclosure and even claimed that he was in so much debt that he was unable to pay his personal bills. As of May 2013, his hefty expenses (not including his personal bills) consist of the following:
– $24,000 every three months to his ex-wife, fashion designer Rachel Roy, for child support of their two kids, and to cover money owed on the lofts.
– New York state forces Dash to send another $4,341.10 per month for support of his son, Christian.
– He paid nearly $20,000 in garnished wages in late 2012 for other debts. – And he faces a pending $40,000 tax payment for business earnings.
In addition to the aforementioned money troubles, the entrepreneur was also in hot water with the state of New Jersey for unpaid taxes. And now, according to TMZ, Dame has been hit with a $2.8 million tax lien by the state of New York. Recent reports reveal that Dame owes $$2,614,918.10 from 2005 and $187,544.20 from 2011.
News of Dame’s financial woes are extremely unfortunate, especially considering that at one point he was part owner of a multi-million-dollar hip-hop empire. Hopefully he can find a way to pay off his debt and possibly scale back on his living expenses.
