The Art Of Complaining: How To Speak Up And Get The Results You Want

July 8, 2013  |

Dine and Demand Good Service

When you don’t get satisfactory service in a restaurant — be it a fast food establishment or a fine dining restaurant — calmly explain to your server why you are dissatisfied. “Do not automatically blame the waiter; keep in mind that a long wait for food or a dish that is not cooked to your satisfaction is probably the fault of the chef rather than the server,” explains WikiHow.

Ask for what you want—a new dish, an apology, a discount on the bill.

If the waiter cannot or refuses to help you, ask to speak to the manager. Sometimes, if it is a larger chain you may need to contact the headquarters’ complaints department.
