“I Don’t Think I Need To Reintroduce Myself”: Keri Hilson Preps Comeback To Music, Including Collabo With Kanye

July 2, 2013  |

Even though Keri Hilson clearly had an amazing time taking a break from music so that she could relax and heat things up in her love life with Oklahoma City baller Serge Ibaka (that boy fine!), she says that hiatus she has been taking is about to come to a close. Hilson recently spoke about why she took a break from music after rumors swirled that she hightailed it because she was pregnant. Hilson quietly exited stage left after the release of her second disc, No Boys Allowed (which did…okay):

Well, in an interview with Idolator, Hilson revealed that she is just about done being on sabbatical and has new music on deck for her fans. So is Hilson ready to try and come for somebody’s spot again? Maybe. Maybe not. Either way, she’s excited to be putting some new tracks together and knows that her fans around the world will hold her down, despite what her haters might have to say:

“Musically, I did take a break. It seemed long to everyone, but it was a pretty brief hiatus. But I’m back in the studio, putting together my album. We are pretty close to choosing the single. We’ve thought we have chosen the single. We are almost there.”

She told them that she has even linked up with Kanye West to work on new music, as the two have collaborated in the past on songs like “Knock You Down” and his G.O.O.D. Friday track, “Take One For The Team.”

“I’ve actually worked with him. I can’t say much about it, but it was awesome. He’s a genius. I really, really enjoyed working with him.

The music is going to speak for itself. I don’t think I need to re-introduce myself to the world. I’ve been blessed to have fans all over the world. I know that they will hold me down and spread the word. My entrance into the industry was so organic. I love that. It was kind of word of mouth driven. Social networking driven to tell people. It’s driven all by the music. It’s not from my fashion. It’s not from anything but my lyrics. Just the songs. The music and the feeling people get from it. I’m most proud about that. I think this time around it will be the same way with a bigger impact.”

So do you think she can make waves this time around? We’ll have to wait and see. Ready or not, here Ms. Keri Baby comes!
