The last season of Basketball Wives ended with broken friendships, pink slips and criminal charges. When the long-lived friendship between cast members Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams went awry, most fans knew that there was a strong possibility that things could get physical between the former BFFs, but many were shocked when Evelyn’s assistant Nia Crooks jumped up in the mix and slapped Jennifer in the face.

Although the assault didn’t seem like anything out the norm, considering how most reality stars behave, the truth of the matter is that you can’t just go around slapping people and expect not to have to deal with any consequences. Without missing a beat and against co-stars Evelyn and Shaunie’s protests, Jennifer pressed charges against Nia. It didn’t take much for the misdemeanor battery charges to stick since the entire altercation was caught on tape.

Although the charge carried a 1-year prison sentence, TMZ is reporting that Crooks escaped having to serve prison time by cutting a deal with the Broward County prosecutors by pleading “no contest” to the charges. She wasn’t let completely off the hook though. We hear the reality star has been ordered to comply with a 1-year probation sentence, pay a $695.00 fine and write a letter of apology to Jennifer, but that’s not all. According to reports, she has also been ordered to complete a 13-week anger management program.

Do you think Nia learned her lesson? Would you say that the sentencing was appropriate for the crime?
