It was supposed to be the comeback of a lifetime, but let’s keep it real, “Gimme More” wasn’t that hot of a track. On top of that, that comeback performance of the song at the VMAs in 2007 with her lethargic dance steps and out of shape body at the time didn’t help matters. As for the work done with the song behind the scenes, Hilson wrote “Gimme More” with the help of Jim Beanz, Marcella “Ms. Lago” Araica, and Nate “Danja” Hills. Hilson opened up about having Britney in mind for the track the minute she heard the beat:

“Danja produced the song and I just started singing, ‘Give me, Give me,’ and added a little more in and just having fun and messing around really. That’s how everything is. I wrote ‘Gimme More’ with Britney in mind. At this point in my career I am usually in the studio when usually they’re there or sometimes not there, the session is booked, but I definitely have them in mind.”
