We all really want to find the best gifts to show our appreciation for our loving fathers, but let’s face it — men are difficult to shop for. Aimlessly searching inside the mall for the ideal present for our dads gets frustrating. What is it exactly does he want? A survey conducted by Ebates comes to our rescue to answer this baffling question.
Let’s hope you’re not thinking about buying any power tools: 54 percent of women assume that their dads want a rotary hammer or drill. And unfortunately for some fathers, 24 percent of daughters presume that their dads want clothes.
Don’t bother buying him any sporting goods either. Only 11 percent of surveyed dads preferred clubs, tennis rackets, and other sport-related gifts. Most sons and daughters often opt to buy tickets to a sporting event, but only 19 percent of dads would be happy with his gift.
The truth is that dads (much like moms) actually prefer a gift card to their favorite store. This makes life much easier for both parties. Dad doesn’t have to fake a happy expression to convince you he’s satisfied with your gift and his kids don’t have to rack their brains to find him the perfect present.
Last year, dads preferred a more expensive gift: a smartphone or a tablet. If you know your dad loves cool gadgets, consider buying him one of those two gizmos. If not, the survey says your gadget-loving dad will be satisfied with a video game, camera, or an Ultrabook (in that order).
