I’m not sure if you all are prepared for Willow’s new sound.
As soon as the music started, I gave a cautious side eye. When Willow started singing, all I could think was, “Ohh, the Noirettes are going to have a field day.” Then, the full beat dropped and I wanted to do a slow body roll. If you ever feel the need to do a body roll to a song that a 12 year old is singing, you know there might be something not quite right with said song.
As one half of the group Melodic Chaotic (the other half is DJ Fabrega who is Chaotic), Willow – who is Melodic in the group name – is giving sultry, Rihanna-esque vocals on “The Intro” and for someone so young, that may not be the best thing. Her lyrics are also a bit “grown” although it seems like she might be talking about music. Here’s a quick sample:
“My eyes blink faster than the lightning/And I think you should carry me/ I believe, I believe in us/And I/I can smell your entity from here/Melodic Chaotic (repeat)…”
Her voice doesn’t sound horrible but even if the song is about music, the lyrics still seem a bit much for someone her age. I found myself wondering how Rihanna or Ciara would sound on it. But hey, music is subjective and we all know Willow is a creative being.
Melodic Chaotic has an EP dropping in the coming months.
Check it out and tell us what you think!
