Putting Prayers Into Action: How You Can Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims

May 21, 2013  |

For there are homes and schools to rebuild, businesses and hospitals to reopen, there are parents to console, first responders to comfort, and, of course, frightened children who will need our continued love and attention. There are empty spaces where there used to be living rooms, and bedrooms, and classrooms, and, in time, we’re going to need to refill those spaces with love and laughter and community.

President Barack Obama

Areas of the Midwest are prone to seeing tornadoes throughout their lifetime, but yesterday’s near two mile wide tornado completely destroyed parts of Moore, Okla. and surrounding areas. Thus far, a reported 24 people including nine children have lost their lives with over 230 injured and many still missing.

It’s during these times of tragedy that our nation comes together to not only lift up those affected and lost in prayer, but also to find some course of action that can hopefully provide assistance. It’s quite evident that many Oklahoma residents will need our thoughts as well as aid.

So the question now becomes what we can do to help? Can I really make a difference if I am miles — even states — away? And what if I have limited funds? Can my donations really make a difference?

The answer is yes.

If everyone gave a little, it would surely add up to a great amount. Here are a few ways to help the Oklahoma tornado victims should you want to make a donation.
