Celebs Whose Failures Taught Us To Dust Ourselves Off And Try Again

Oprah Winfrey

Seriously though, you can’t talk about success and setbacks without bringing up the big O. Oprah Winfrey has been one of the strongest forces in media for decades raking in billions under her own business ventures. This, however, did not come easy for the Mississippi native as she struggled with extreme poverty, family instability and sexual abuse in her early years. Finding a job in Nashville as a news anchor, she later moved to Baltimore, MD to co-anchor WJZ evening news.

“I came in naive, unskilled, not really knowing anything about the business — or about life,” notes Oprah. “And Baltimore grew me up.”

Failure would hit the aspiring talk show host as she was publicly fired and humiliated during her time in the position (someone call up Ann Curry). Years of success would later prove  Oprah got the last laugh as she had one of the most successful talk show for 25 years, an arsenal of successful publications under her belt and her OWN Network. And OWN was seemingly on the brink for a minute, before O brought it back to life, with help from Iyanla and the other cast of characters on the network.
