Was This The Best Magazine Cover Of The Year?

May 2, 2013  |

The American Society of Magazine Editors has handed out its annual Ellie awards and the winner for Best Magazine Cover goes to this Hurricane Sandy shot that landed on New York magazine. The picture also took the prize in the News & Politics category.

The image shows the blackout that resulted from the Sandy’s sweep across the Big Apple. The lower part of the city was left without electricity while the upper part managed to hang on to electricity. Photographer Iwan Bann got the shot by flying over Manhattan in a helicopter with a $6,500 camera, according to Complex.
