Bitter Much? Celebrities Who Have Trouble Moving On From Past Relationships
Celebrities break up all the time. But some are less willing to let go and move on than others. These 15 famous folks– with their childish name calling, trivial lawsuits and stuck-in-the-past mentalities – fit into this category perfectly.
Usher and Tameka
Thinking back on the devolution of this relationship, it’s hard to tell who was the more scorned of the two. Both Tameka and Usher went hard during their divorce and child custody proceedings, digging up dirt, making wild accusations and tearing each other apart limb by limb. Usher accused Tameka of having a “revolving door” of nannies watching their children, and Tameka suggested not too politely that Usher was a pill popping addict who slept with her bridesmaids. Their intense legal mudslinging lasted right on up to the judge’s final rulings and beyond with subsequent appeals.
Kris Humphries and ex-wife Kim Kardashian have finally settled their divorce lawsuit for an undisclosed amount after 18 months of legal feuding (the suit lasted 15 months longer than their actual marriage, by the way). We know Kris felt played by the Kartrashian Empire for that, and no matter what he says it’s clear he wanted to get back at Kim – and really, who can blame him?
What seemed like an amicable divorce between Christina Aguilera and ex-husband Jordan Bratman was actually quite the opposite, revealed sources in 2011. Apparently, after they split Jordan refused to pack up and move his a$$ out of the couple’s $11.5 million mansion, forcing Christina and their son Max to take up residence in a nearby hotel.
Jordan eventually did move out, but didn’t remove the remainder of his items from the home for TWO years.
Women have been having 8+ babies for years, so we never really got Jon and Kate Plus 8. Still, mainstream America seemed to love this duo before their 2009 divorce.
But just when it seemed that all was quiet on the Jon and Kate front, a close friend of Jon’s released Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled The World – a trash-spilling ebook which contained confidential information that Kate claimed was stolen by none other than her scorned ex, Jon.
Halle Berry sure knows how to pick em’ doesn’t she? After breaking up with Gabriel Aubry in 2010, she embarked on a drawn-out two year child custody battle that centered on Aubry’s not agreeing to Halle and daughter Nahla’s move to France with Olivier Martinez. Following a heated Thanksgiving Day brawl, the two finally reached an agreement whereby Halle pays Aubry $20,000 a month and stays her behind right here in the US with Nahla.
Remember Justin Timberlake’s 2002 joint Cry Me a River? Totally about Britney Spears. And totally a scorned lover diss track. Rumors had been swirling at the time that the couple’s breakup was the result of Britney cheating, and this song really seemed to back up the speculation.
Antonio de la Rua
After Shakira broke up with Antonio de la Rua, he sued her for a whopping $100 million, claiming to have been responsible for securing her lucrative “Hips Don’t Lie” Live Nation deal. Their case is pending, but Shakira remains adamant that she won’t pay de la Rua a penny of her hard-earned money.
She says: she was already an established artist when they met over 10 years ago and that although he did help her make some decisions, he was never her manager. We’re not sure how this case will end, but it sounds like de la Rua needs to just drop it and move on with his life.
Pilar Sanders has had a really rough breakup with Deion which is partly – OK, mostly – due to her inability to let go. Back in 2012, she claimed that he and his daughter had damaged her emotionally and sued them both for $200 million. She then allegedly assaulted Deion in their shared Texas home. And now Pilar has revealed that she’s planning on writing a tea-spilling tell-all about the whole thing. We know she feels wronged, but wouldn’t she be better off just putting all the negativity behind her?
We know that Shay was blindsided by Scrappy declaring his love for Erica on the Season one reunion of LHHATL, but she still needs to move on. There’s no point in hanging on to a lost thing. And besides, it seems the show is setting her up nicely for another TV relationship – with Momma Dee.
We don’t even know what the source of Ray J’s scorn is. Jealousy? Hatred? Obsession? Whatever it may be, he looks awfully silly releasing a song and book about Kim Kardashian six years after they dated or even filmed that stupid tape. Ray J needs to let go of the past, move on and ride someone else’s coattails for a change.
After learning all the scandalous details of her husband Mike Nilon’s infidelity, Garcelle took to his company email account to put him on full blast. In a message sent to his entire office, with subject line “Tiger Woods/Jesse James/Mike Nilon”, Garcelle wrote:
“What do they have in common . . . I found out today that MY husband of almost 9 yrs has been having an affair for 5 yrs with some sl*t in Chicago. I am devastated!!!! And I have been duped!! Our boys don’t deserve this!”
Taylor Swift isn’t the only one who airs out her relationship grievances in song. During a 2008 concert, Madonna introduced the track “Miles Away”, which took some intentional jabs at her then soon to be ex-husband Guy Ritchie. Madonna had this to say about the song:
“This song is for the emotionally retarded. Maybe you know some people who fall into that category. God knows I do.”
After her relationship with 50 Cent ended, Vivica Fox made a number of media appearances to harp on their breakup and talk a bunch of ish. She even went on the Tyra Banks show and called 50’s love “ghetto.”
Will Roseanne Barr ever stop hating her ex Tom Arnold? Probably not. In an interview with Page Six, the funny woman remarked:
“I don’t think we should have hung Saddam Hussein – hanging was too good for that son of a B***h. We should have made him marry Tom Arnold! But with a pre-nup. He is a human being, after all . . . Saddam, I mean.”
Ouch… just, ouch.
By this point, we’re all well aware that RHOBH star Brandi Glanville’s husband left her for country singer Leann Rimes in 2009. But in an interview with E! News, Glanville revealed how she herself handled the unfortunate information:
“He broke my heart, so I broke his Harleys” admitted Glanville. “I just took the tires and I put the knife into his motorcycles.” Classic.
