Everyone knows it’s the beat that makes the song what it is. So it’s only right that we pay tribute to some of the hottest music producers in Hip Hop then and now. Check them out.

DJ Mustard

Mr. Mustard on the beat! I know some of you thought he said buss it on the beat, but he was building his brand dropping his own name. Very catchy! DJ Mustard has produced songs for Tyga — “Rack City” and 2 Chainz — “I’m different”. This guy right here knows how to get the party started.

Timbaland has been producing records for decades. We know him for his work with Missy Elliott. Then he started to work with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado and Jigga man. Timbaland resume is long and I’m sure his money is too!

Bangladesh is the producer to most of Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne songs such as “A Milli” and “Fireman”. If I’m not mistaken, these are some of Wayne’s hottest tracks that made people take notice of his work. We can thank Bangladesh for those amazing beats.

Young chop

Young Chop is a Chicago producer. He has produced music for artists like Chief Keef, Big Sean, Gucci Mane and French Montana. He’s new to the game but with the artists he’s working with, he’ll be well known sooner than you expect.

Boi-1da should come as no surprise to some of you. He is a Canadian music producer and if you do not know who this young man is, he is responsible for the many tracks he produced for Drake. This relationship between Boi-1da and Drake is magical. Let’s hope they keep working together.

Mannie Fresh

Mannie Fresh is one of the dopest music producers in the south. He was responsible for songs by The Big Tymers, Juvenile and Lil Wayne and fully represented for New Orleans. We have no idea what he’s doing now but there’s no doubt he still has it in him to put out some new tracks and represent for the south once more.

Kanye West

Kanye West, the rapper/producer is a genius when it comes to music. Call him crazy but you cannot deny his talent. He was responsible for some of Jay-Z’s biggest songs and his own albums. He does sample way too much but he knows how to make a good song. There’s no stopping this man.

For some of us, we first learned about NO I.D from Kanye West songs. He always mentions him as his mentor. NO I.D aka Dion is another great producer behind Jay-Z and Kanye West songs. He also did work with Common when he was Common Sense, Rihanna, Bow Wow, Jasmine Sullivan and more.

J.U.S.T.I.C.E League

J.U.S.T.I.C.E league is very talented. They can produce a hip hop track for the likes of Rick Ross and in the same breath produce an R&B song for artists like Kandi and Mary J. Blige. In case you didn’t know J.U.S.T.I.C.E league was taken from the DC comic of superheros and it’s an acronym for, ” Just Undeniably Some Of The Illest Composers Ever”.

Drumma Boy

Drumma Boy is another producer responsible for tracks by down south artists like Gucci Mane, Tity Boi aka 2 Chainz, Plies, and Young Jeezy. He even produced Kandi’s hit song “Fly Above”.

Swizz Beatz

Swizz Beatz not producing songs anymore just wouldn’t feel right. This man was responsible for Ruff Ryders –DMX, Eve, Drag-on’s–hottest tracks. Now, he’s definitely expanded his brand working with his wife Alicia Keys and producing unforgettable tracks for Jay-Z like “Open Letter.”  Swizz Beatz is known for his energetic beats and party tracks.

Dr. Dre

How can we forget about Dr. Dre? He doesn’t rap as much as he use to but producing is Dre’s thing. He expanded his empire when he collaborated and created tracks for 50 cent and Eminem and now he’s the creator of the hottest product on the market, Beats by Dre headphones.

Please don’t think Diddy became famous for saying, “Bad Boy Baby” on tracks with Biggie and dancing in videos with Mase. Diddy is truly a business all in himself. He will hop on a track to do ad libs, rap a verse or two and produce albums. He was one of the producers on Jay-Z’s album, “American Gangster” and for artist like Faith Evans and Mary J. Blige back in the day.

Just Blaze

Every time I think about Just Blaze, I think about Joe Budden song, “pump it up”. Just Blaze is known for energetic and fun beats. He has done tracks for T.I, The Game, Common, Mario, and Fabolous to name a few.

The Neptunes

Pharell and Chad are the best duo in the business when it comes to creating the most unique beats in the hip hop industry. They always add a special touch to every song they create and you always know Neptunes did the track because you will hear Pharell ad libbing in the background. Songs like “Lapdance”, “Work It” by Beyonce, “I decided” by Solange and more are songs we will always love.
