(Washington Business Journal) — Payrolls climbed in 37 states in July, with the District posting the second-biggest gain in jobs in the nation last month, according to the Department of Labor.
Payrolls jumped by 17,800 in D.C. last month, second only to the 27,800 jobs added by employers in Michigan. Virginia’s nonfarm payrolls rose by 4,500, and Maryland employers added a net 500 new jobs, the Labor Department reports.
