The PR disaster that was Fantasia’s recent JET magazine cover is slowly coming to an end, but not before Fantasia gets in one last word. The singer notoriously went on a rant demanding an apology for the mag using a 10-year-old photo of her rather than ones her team provided to coincide wither her new image, but in the midst of her grammar being criticized not many took the time to actually understand why Fantasia was so upset. In an interview with Power 99, she finally explained it:
“I worked so hard to get to where I am now and I don’t want to take it back, I want to move on. And you know if I don’t stand for something. I’ll fall for anything.
“They [JET] were used to that Fantasia who never said anything and that’s why stuff got haywire and so much was said about me. It was almost like using me as a clown act. I’m not that girl anymore.
“I just wanted them to know, don’t take it back ten years when we’ve worked so hard and did a shoot for 10 hours for a new album and a new look….They were asking me questions about the new look and the new sound, then use [the new look]. If it was too much for your shoot then we should have done a shoot with them.
That seems fair enough.
Surprisingly, when Power 99’s host asked Fantasia if she’d be willing to work with JET again she said yes and even told the radio host, who also pressed her for details about her relationship status, that she can’t be made upset right now. Sounds like Fanny’s found some sweet peace since her Instagram rant.
