Welcome To Bon Temps: Jurnee Smollett To Join Cast For The Sixth Season Of “True Blood”
I’ve been a huge fan of Jurnee Smollett and her talents since she was a young girl (anybody else remember the ABC show On Our Own that she and her siblings starred in?), but as she’s aged into a young woman, I feel like I only get to see her on television or in films every once in a while. The last real notable roles she had that had people talking include her time on Friday Night Lights and The Great Debaters alongside Denzel Washington. But 2013 is sure to be a great year for her and her career, because according to Shadow and Act, she will appear on the upcoming NBC drama, Do No Harm, she has the lead role in the Tyler Perry movie, Tyler Perry’s Temptation, and now she’ll get the chance to reach an even more interesting audience with her new role on the HBO hit, True Blood.
According to Shadow and Act, Smollett is all set to play the character of Nicole Wright, a woman who doesn’t get caught up in material things and money, but is instead optimistic about the good people can do in the world and doing what’s right. How she’ll fit in with the shapeshifters, wolves, and very sexual vampires (who all seem to love having graphic sex on camera), I’m not really sure. However, I’m excited to see how she’ll do because her talents need to be put to good use more often. She will be a regular cast member on the show with this role, and hopefully her character will shake things up. But if you’re as excited about her new role as we are, then you should check her out on True Blood this June when the sixth season premieres.
