We have some positive news to report on this Post-Thanksgiving morning, in lieu of the other craziness that went down yesterday. The lovely actress Nia Long has been added to the cast of Tyler Perry’s latest film, Single Mom’s Club.

According to The YBF, Nia will be gracing the silver screen accompanied by co-stars Zulay Henao as Esperanza and Wendi McLendon-Covey as Jan. The fourth leading role has yet to be cast.

The storyline will follow four single mothers from varying walks of life who form a support group after their paths happen to cross due to a critical situation that occurs at a school where their children attend. is reporting that the 42-year-old mom of two will be playing the role of Lydia.

In addition to the four leading ladies, William Levy and Tyler Perry will also be a part of the cast as the two male leads. Along with his leading role, Perry will also be writing, directing and producing the upcoming film, which is scheduled to hit theaters May 9, 2014. According to, Perry’s co-producers are Ozzie Areu and Matt Moore and the flick, which will be filmed in Atlanta, is being distributed by Lionsgate and is scheduled to begin production towards the end of this month.

We’re ecstatic to hear about Nia’s new gig and can’t wait until this film released. It seems Tyler is exploring and seeking to expand into a larger demographic with the multi-racial characters he has strategically cast in this film. Let’s cross our fingers and hope that he does better with this one than he did with his last film, Madea’s Witness Protection, which I found to be a tad bit offensive and a little disappointing.

What about you? Are you excited about seeing Nia Long star in her next major role? Will you be watching Single Mom’s Club when it drops in 2014?
