Why Are Tevon & His Mama Embarrasing Us? Triflin Hurricane Sandy Looters Take To Twitter To Brag

November 1, 2012  |

Ah, the foolishness. When the lights go out and cops are overshadowed by disaster, the looters emerge. Although the crime rate has been relatively low since Sandy hit the Eastern seaboard on Sunday,  cops have arrested at least 12 people for looting.  Folks have apparently been using Twitter to promote looting and report on their own looting efforts using #SANDYLOOTCREW.

The Daily Mail, a British publication, reported on the looting story and had all kinds of imagery of brothers including that of the ultimate fool, Tevon Jackson, who tweeted (see above) about his crime. Most of the looting has been reported in South Brooklyn, where electricity and power has been wiped out by the storms.

Several brazen thugs have robbed their neighbors and their local shops of everything from basic food stuffs to expensive electronics and they are taking to Twitter to broadcast their spoils.

‘Check out this laptop I scored,’ SevenleafB tweeted earlier today. ‘It’s easy just reach out an grab it.’
It appears the looters are organizing through the hashtag #SANDYLOOTCREW.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has now called on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to put a stop to the crime-wave sweeping South Brooklyn.

SMH. There have been reports of looters breaking into  liquor stores and into electronic stores and bragging about what they got. According to the Daily Mail:

Twitter user @OG_MLK posted a photo of a man grabbing hold of a big screen television with the caption Pics of my boy Demarcus swiping that tv #SANDYLOOTCREW.’

Despite the disappointing of the looting, I’m not surprised by it. It’s something we expect during times of chaos. I’m just more shocked that folks are taking to social media to talk about breaking the law and basically proving themselves guilty in the court of law.
