In case you’re wondering where “Deception” came from, this is the third name slapped on Meagan Good’s upcoming show on NBC. Originally pegged as a suspense, police-style drama under the name “Notorious,” the show was later renamed “Infamous,” and is now being marketed as a mystery soap under the title “Deception.” As Deadline describes it:
“Deception,” from Universal TV and BermanBraun, is described as an opulent soap in which a female detective (Meagan Good) returns undercover to the wealthy and troubled Lawson family she grew up in — as the maid’s daughter — to solve the murder of the notorious heiress Vivian Lawson who was once her closest friend.
Aside from Meagan Good playing the lead role of Joanna Locasto, Laz Alonso will also play Meagan’s former flame, NYPD detective Will Sacovitch, who recruits her character partner with his division and infiltrate the Lawson home.
Rather than waiting until the Fall to debut the show, NBC will introduce “Deception” as a mid-season 2012/2013 drama. The debut date has been set for January 7, 2013 and will air Monday nights from 10-11 pm.
