WEEKEND WRAP-UP! Tichina Arnold’s Big Weekend! Chris Tucker’s Announcement! + MORE!
Hey loves! Hopefully you all are enjoying the lovely weekend so far! I’ve got quite a few goodies today: wedding bells, baby news, movie news and more! Yes, the celebs have been pretty busy over the last week! Check it out!
Tichina Arnold Says “I Do!”
Congratulations are in order for Tichina Arnold and her new hubby, Rico Hines. According to Tichina’s Twitter account, the couple were married in Hawaii on Saturday in front of friends and family. Her bridal party included choreographer Big Lez and Sidra Smith, actress Tasha Smith’s twin sister. The original date was reportedly September 8th but I guess the lovebirds just couldn’t wait. Congratulations!
Don’t Expect to See Smokey in Friday
Well, all of you Friday fans can finally have your answer: it looks like Chris Tucker will not be reprising his role as Smokey if a new “Friday” script should turn up. He spoke to the Tom Joyner Morning Show and while he tried to be diplomatic with his answer, the final word was “…but I doubt if I do any other Fridays. I really doubt it.” So that’s that. On the upside, he said he and Jackie Chan are working out some things in terms of the Rush Hour series. We’ll see how that plays out.
Nicki’s Medical Cancellation
Okay, this is funny to me even though I likely shouldn’t be laughing. Nicki Minaj has canceled her shows in England due to strained vocal chords. Granted, she tweeted to her fans before a show last Tuesday that her voice was weak but she didn’t really go into any further. Her rep stated that the doctor told her to rest her voice but her commitment to her fans wouldn’t allow her to do that. Well, isn’t that nice! But I have to ask: How does someone who mostly lip-syncs their songs manage to have strained vocal chords? Okay then.
Derrick Rose & Girlfriend’s (I think)Big Shower
I know it’s going to hurt the legions of women who think Derrick Rose belongs to them but it looks like he and Mieka are in it for the long haul. Well, maybe I shouldn’t go that far but as you can see, they are absolutely expecting a child. Glitzy Events, the Chicago based company that coordinated the event, posted a picture of the couple. Don’t kill me, I’m just the messenger!
50 Cent’s Ever Growing Portfolio!
50 Cent epitomizes Puffy’s legendary phrase “Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop!” Now that he’s found a way to conquer almost any field you can think of, he’s now joining his BFF Floyd Mayweather in the world of boxing. According to EURWeb, 50 has founded TMT (The Money Team) Productions, a boxing promotions company. He’s already been able to get the company licensed in New York and he’s allegedly now in the process of doing the same in Nevada. Despite what we may think of 50 Cent as a person (and some definitely have strong opinions on him), he continues to make major moves!
TV Alert: Oprah Continues To Pull Out All The Stops
Oprah’s been figuring out a way to get some people to watch OWN over recent weeks and tonight’s episode of “Next Chapter” should certainly pull in high ratings. Her conversation with Rihanna airs tonight and after all the bits and pieces we’ve heard from the interview, it should be pretty good. Also, gold medalist will be on “Next Chapter” next Sunday! I’m really excited about that one because Gabby seems like a wonderful young lady. Make sure you watch so we can talk about it on Twitter!
Introducing: Jhene Aiko
If you keep up with artists who are more internet famous than anything, you might be familiar with Jhene Aiko. She was first introduced to the world around the time boy group B2K was around but nothing ever really happened from that association. From there, she started releasing songs randomly on the internet that people who just happen to pick up on. Last year, she released a mixtape called Sailing Soul and it was a huge viral success. Jhene released a song a few weeks ago dedicated to her brother that recently passed from cancer called “For My Brother” that really displays how she often writes from an emotional place. She also just put out a video for “3:16AM” which details how her thoughts of a past relationship always creep through her mind during those late, quiet hours causing her not to be able to sleep. What Jhene may lack in vocal ability (she’s not a bad singer, she’s just not a strong one in my opinion), she totally makes up for in writing talent. She’s one I definitely think you’ll dig!
