Tweet Your Way to The Boardroom: Social Media and Maximizing Your Job Search

July 30, 2012  |

With 955 million monthly active users, it’s safe to say that almost everyone has a Facebook account, and has had one for some time. Make sure your Facebook account isn’t ruining your chances at getting (or keeping) a job. Check your photo albums and the photos you’re tagged in for pictures that might be showing a little too much of your personal life, like excessive drinking or drug use or that hot half-naked picture of you in college.

After cleaning up your image a little on Facebook, follow what companies that interest you are doing. Many brands have Facebook pages that you can follow or like. Make sure you are abreast of what’s current in your field.

And try not to blast your job situation every chance you get, updating your status after every interview or begging your way into your next job. As personal as Facebook is, it might make your professional life harder to establish.
