Introducing: CJ Hilton

If you’re a big fan of Raphael Saadiq, you may recall hearing CJ’s vocals on “Never Give You Up,” a song that also has Stevie Wonder on the harmonica.  When I first heard CJ’s voice, I was immediately in love.  I looked him up a little bit but didn’t really pay him any mind until a month ago when I was enjoying the song again.  Imagine my surprise when I heard that voice belonged to a man who was only 23 years old! CJ is signed to RCA Records and so far he’s released a mixtape (The Package, hosted by DJ Driis aka Idris Elba) and he released his EP, Cold Summer in the Spring.  The title track, produced by Salaam Remi (who is the EP’s executive producer), has a heavy hip-hop beat while still commanding the soul of CJ’s voice.  You should also check out “So Fresh,” a single he has with rapper Nas.  You will not believe his voice and will absolutely understand why seasoned R&B artists have co-signed him.
