2012 Met Costume Institute Gala: Beyoncé, Rihanna & More Show Out On The Red Carpet
It was New York City’s biggest night in fashion as the stars hit the “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art last night. All kinds of materials and looks made their way on the red carpet from our favorite folks, and we’ve got a quick look back on all the hot pieces and the stars that wore them.
Talk about a stunner! Bey came through (sans Jay-Z) in this black see-through gown with a gorgeous black and purple train. All the detailing on this one, including the stones, the feathers, and all that mesh (her hands even seem to be covered in it), just make this a jaw-dropping stunner. Shout out to the good folks at the house of Givenchy for this look.
Rihanna also showed up and showed out in this croc-embossed gown with a deep cut in the back, a sassy split up the back, and long sleeves. A truly innovative look by the always amazing Tom Ford. The hair is a big “WTF!?” but otherwise, she looks hot. Per the usual.
LaLa Anthony and her man Carmelo also stepped out for the event, and the reality star looked beautiful in this body-hugging blue gown by Zac Posen. With its small structured details on the bodice that accentuated her waist and pushed up her girls, she brought the sex, but was still toned down. She could have added some drama or sparkle to her look, but nonetheless, she looks nice. And there’s nothing like a fine man as a gal’s best accessory!
A party ain’t a party until Solange gets there, and if she’s not standing out, she must not be feeling it. But of course, she did stand out in this bright yellow peplum gown by Rachel Roy, gold jewelry and blinged out bag that had all eyes on her. And if it they weren’t on that dress, they were probably on the fab hair. Looking good Solo!
Love actress Jessica Alba, and we’re definitely loving this gold Grecian-style gown by Michael Kors with its asymmetrical style, banded waist, and flowing skirt. The hair was definitely old Hollywood glamour though. Looks like someone left the kiddies (and the man) at home to show folks how it’s done on the red carpet. Love, love, love that lamé!
Heeeey sista, go sista, flow sista, soul sista! (Or something like that) But Paula Patton looked great in this light pink colored gown by Vera Wang. The detailing around the chest and the waist was gorgeous, as was the woman’s accessories. And I’m loving the simple hair with this complex gown. Again, another look that could have used more embellishments, more shock-value, and more…something, but she went for tasteful and pretty. I can’t knock it though. She looks beautiful!
Chanel Iman is hands down one of the best looking models in the industry, and when I saw this gown by Tom Ford, and her date, designer Tom Ford of course, I gasped! She looks so gorgeous from head to toe, and I love the peek-a-boo mix of materials. The makeup is stunning and the minimalist accessories are as well. She and Tom better work!
