Steadfast, poised and confident–these are the words to describe Chelsea F. Johnson. In a world over-saturated with aspiring vixens and faux celebrities, its nice to meet a girl still close to her roots and just really wants to make her family proud.

Chelsea received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina in May of 2009. The former Miss Livingstone College, former basketball team captain and present basketball coach, has a knack for singing her heart out. This triple threat is a genuine model for others to follow. Chelsea recently completed her first independent album entitled “Beauty For Ashes,” produced by Landrick J. Atkins. Check it out on CD Baby after you read about this amazing superhero below.

Real Name: Chelsea Franchesca Johnson

Alter Ego: “Chee”

Locale: Tallahassee, Florida

Ordinary Role: Middle School Science Teacher, Sales Associate, Basketball Coach

Secret Powers: I have the power to motivate others. When someone is really having a trying time, I have a way of placing their mind at ease. I know how to find that one thing, that “umph” if you will, that is inside of us, and I turn on the switch.

Incognito Aesthetic: I love my smile, and my legs (thanks to a life of playing basketball)

Superhero’s Creed: “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” ( Matthew 5:16 ). Everyday, I try to live a life that is pleasing to God. By doing this, I do not have to carry around a poster board, or wear a t-shirt stating that I am a Christian. My actions already will say so.

A Recent Test: Everyone has a story. Two years ago, I was playing in a basketball game and I felt really tired. I thought it was because I had played the whole game, but I ended up passing out. After this episode and a visit to the ER, I experienced a series of headaches the would not cease. This continued for a month and I found myself in the hospital. Doctors ran test after test, and finally I realized that I did not need those tests, God was giving me the only test that mattered. I looked up and called out to Him, I realized that I let my faith become hidden by my fear. Sometimes God has to knock you down so that you have no place else to look, but up. A week later I walked out of that hospital free of harm. There are many ups and downs in life, but I have found out that we have to get back up and keep moving.

Putting Your Powers to Use: I have recently completed an independent Gospel album. It is entitled “Beauty for Ashes”, produced by Landrick J. Atkins of Midway, Florida. There are a few up and coming artist also featured on this project. I decided to do this project because I felt the need to take back control over my own life. In order to do that, I had to realize that both good and negative situations must be embraced in my life. Through this project and my music, I want to minister to those that may have lost the faith because of their past and present circumstance. It’s time to empower, and I thank God for the challenge, and the opportunity.
