I wouldn’t advise this, especially in this economy. But if the pain is so deep and working closely with each other would cause friction within your department, then perhaps one of you have to leave. And if one of you is subordinate to the other, then I would definitely advise the “senior” person to start looking elsewhere to avoid a potential sexual harassment lawsuit – quickly! People do strange things when they’re hurt or angry, so get out of there fast if you sense there will be some repercussions to breaking up with your cubicle cut buddy. No office nooky is worth a your job…or a lawsuit.
