Don’t Bad Mouth Your Ex

If YOU thrive on drama, refrain this time – and don’t give gossipers a reason to talk about your ex as well. There is no reason to bad mouth your ex, no matter what he did to you. While you may think he’s the scum of the earth and want to send a mass email to all of his office buddies telling them what a jerk he is, don’t tell your colleagues “your” version of the breakup that may sully his reputation or make him look bad to them. They have to work with him too, so it’s not fair to his co-workers and it’s not fair to him.  And if he bad mouths you, don’t respond. Be nice, even if it kills you. Hold your head up high and be the adult so that the only damaged reputation is his.
