Looking for a list of winners from the 84th Academy Awards? You’re in the wrong place. Only fashion lovers are allowed to venture any further into this post because, lets face it, fashion is the only main reason we tune in to awards shows. This year, women and men of color were heavily represented and, for the most part, did not disappoint. View our gallery of attendees to find out who they wore and solidify your favorite look of the night.

Viola Davis

Viola stood out in a bright green mermaid gown by Vera Wang. To some, her dress was doing way too with much with bold color, pleats, and embellishments. However, we think this design looks great on Viola! The strapless neckline is the perfect choice to fully show off her natural fro and the color really pops against her skin. Dangling earrings, cuff, and clutch are the perfect accessories. She glows and will forever be a winner in our eyes.

Maya Rudolph

Wearing a mermaid Johanna Johnson gown, Maya is simplistic and elegant. We love that she finally goes for color for an award show. The plum hue is safe, but a good choice. The jewel encrusted cap sleeves and waist glam up this frock tremendously. When it comes to hair and makeup, Maya has never looked better. Her cascading curls swooped to one side are devine. We just love the fact that she doesn’t try to hide her freckles and a peachy cheek always looks good on the star. We dig this look.

Penelope Cruz

Penelope looks like royalty in Armani Privé. This off-the-shoulder ball gown is gorgeous in lavender and perfect for the Oscars. She keep her jewelry simple and her hair pinned in a 50’s style. Her hair choice truly highlights the neckline of the dress. Ms. Cruz is flawless and brings romanticism back to the award show. The twitter universe pegged Cruz the “Spanish Grace Kelly” via twitter and we have to agree. One of the best looks of the night.

Sherri Shepherd

Sherri, Sherri, Sherri. Let’s start with the positive: the color is great. The vibrant blue is beautiful against her skin. The dress itself flatters her shape and we don’t even mind the chiffon sleeves. It’s that visible black bra that throws everything off. This is a perfect example of how wearing the wrong undergarment can kill a look. That shoe choice is terrible as well. At least her makeup looks fresh and from the big smile we gather she’s happy. Wish we were so enthused.

Pharrell Williams

Pharrell – along with Hans Zimmer – was the musical consultant for the Oscars. He certainly dressed like a boss for the occasion. His black Lanvin tuxedo was immaculately tailored. Folks compare a well-tailored suit on a man to having the same impact as lingerie on a woman. All we can say, is “Hot, Hot, A-HA!” Moving on from the great fit, his oversized velvet bow tie adds charm and the trim on his lapels add character. A modern, patent leather shoe is the final touch on his amazing, clean cut look. Pharrell made us proud in more ways than one last night.

Jennifer Lopez

J-Lo sticks to what she knows in a custom-made Zuhair Murad gown. Deep-V? Check. Long sleeves? Check. Sheer fabric? Check. We can’t help, but feel as if we’ve seen it all before. Still, you cannot deny that she and her body look awesome! Her stylist, Mariel Haenn, certainly plays up Jen’s sex appeal and we congratulate her for knowing her client’s strengths. We admit, the cutout shoulders and the white stripes are fresh takes on the classic ‘J-Lo silhouette’. Ms. Lopez wows us again.

Esperanza Spalding

Esperanza performs “What a Wonderful World” during the In Memoriam segment of the show. Her beautiful voice paid tribute to those in the industry that have passed, including Whitney Houston. She sounded great and looked great during the red carpet portion of the Oscars. She surprised us and didn’t wear multiple colors. Instead, she kept things muted and simple with this baby blue gown. The contrast of the shiny strapless bodice and casual feel of the skirt is nice. The skirt almost resembles the rippling effect found in water. Spalding finishes up with a couple bracelets and her signature hair was rocked in a huge natural fro. Soft makeup allows her pretty features to stand out. Nice.

Sheila E.

If you blinked, you missed Sheila E keeping it funky on the drums with Pharrell in the balcony. We’re happy to bring you her red carpet look because she looked A-MAZING! This crisp white, strapless gown (seeing a trend here) fits her perfectly and the gathered waist is responsible. Her jewelry, that diamond necklace and matching earrings, are elegant. Silver clutch and, again, matching shoes work well with the dress. This is winter white done right!

Sean “Diddy” Combs

Diddy is always dapper and he kept his Spencer Hart tuxedo pristine thanks to his handy-dandy lint rolling assistant that followed him around the carpet. His white pocket square and visible white cuffs are doing it for us. He’s giving us old hollywood glamour in classic black – very Sammy Davis Jr. – and we can’t be mad. The hair is also classic Diddy with it’s side part. We think he looks great. And I know we said this wasn’t about winners, but we have to give Mr. Combs props for his Oscar win as executive producer of “Undefeated.” WERK!

Cameron Diaz

Cameron looked so pretty in strapless Gucci. One would assume that a blush hue would wash her out, but it doesn’t. It actually compliments her skin tone. The dress is fitted throughout the bodice, but explodes into this asymmetrical, tiered mess of art once we reach the skirt. It appears silver sequins are woven into the skirt as well. This creation is very whimsical and looks great on Ms. Diaz. With a clutch and diamonds, she’s done. Her signature blonde locks are worn short with the ever Hot side bang.  Plus, who doesn’t love a good smokey eye? Diaz is serving it and serving it well!

Octavia Spencer

Last but certainly not least, Octavia Spencer remains loyal to designer Tadashi Shoji. This embellished white gown is custom made for the Oscar winner – yes, another ‘winner’ mention so sue me – and she looks exquisite. Somehow the short sleeves are glamourous and the long train adds to that fact. A simple silver clutch, ring, and dangling earrings are the only accessories she needs. Her makeup is flawless, yet again, thanks to fab makeup artist Valerie Noble. Smokey eye, defined cheeks and natural lip color? Yes, ma’am! Octavia is a winner all around.
