Born into colorful St. Lucian culture with vibrant music, food, and people, it’s only right that Kristel St. Omer embraced it as an island carnival performer. From the tender age of 11, dance has been apart of Kristel’s world, it’s safe to say she can’t live or breath without it — it’s her livelihood. Children are also the core and epicenter of her universe. Kristel spends her days traveling to several schools teaching dance and the art of stepping to inner-city school age children. When her weekend begins, she tosses her glasses and transforms into the world’s island carnival performer.

Real Name: Kristel

Alter Ego: Doll (Popõt)

Locale: Brooklyn, NY

Ordinary Role: Dance instructor, Step Master, and Caribbean Culture Model.

Secret Powers: My intuition is very high, it’s almost psychic.

Incognito Aesthetic: My eyes, they’re the windows to truth.

Superhero’s Creed: There are two. The first one is “Truth and a great pair of jeans.”  The second one is, “A happy child makes the world a better place.”

A recent test: Learning to accept people for who they are.

Putting Your Powers to Use: I am a step master by day and carnival junkie from birth. The organization I work with is called Stepping School. As a step master I’m sent out to  numerous schools to teach the art of stepping to school age children. As a carnival junkie I work, model, dance and smile with Karma Carnival Band. Dressed in spectacular costumes I move to the beat of Soca music displaying and enjoying my culture.
