Nelson Mandela’s Daughter Ordered to Pay $7.5 Million Lawsuit

January 3, 2012  |

Nelson Mandela organizes fights against social injustices like apartheid while his daughter, Zindziswa, organizes fights between professional boxers. At least she was supposed to.

Earlier this year, Zindziswa was sued by Duane Moody for $7.5 million, claiming he was hired to organize a Pacquiao/Mayweather match for her father’s birthday but she never followed suit. Moody stood to earn a 15% commission off of the fight which was expected to bring in $100 million but Zindziswa suddenly went MIA when Moody began pulling things together.

According to TMZ, Zindziswa never responded to Moody’s original complaint and now an LA judge has entered a default judgment, awarding the promoter $7.5 million in damages, plus costs. From the looks of things Zindziswa is still nowhere to be found. According to Moody’s lawyers:

“We haven’t heard anything from any representative for Ms. Mandela. It appears she feels hiding in South Africa means she can avoid her obligations in the U.S.”

Zindziswa’s rep did tell TMZ that her lawyers plan to challenge the judgment. I think it may be time for her to come out of hiding.
