LGBTQ Support:

Trump-Pence: While a “Trump Pride” group exists on Trump’s election site, we have yet to see any real support from the Trump administration, more like contempt, homophobia and hate. The Trump administration has rolled back an Obama era memo that directed schools to protect trans students from discrimination, banned trans people from serving in the military, determined that trans prisoners should be housed according to their assigned sex at birth, and proposed a rule that would allow homeless shelters that receive federal funding to house trans people according to their birth-assigned sex. The administration also filed to include a rule that would allow doctors and insurance companies to refuse care to LGBTQ people.

Grade: F

Trump should disband his “Trump Pride” coalition because it’s honestly just a joke at this point.

Biden-Harris: While it’s clear that Biden has more of a tolerant mentality when it comes to the LGBTQ community, his plan seems to focus on reversing much of the legislation enacted by Trump above by moving on the Equality Act. At an ABC town hall last week, Biden did address the deaths of trans community members, where Black trans women are disproportionately killed, but there is no technical policy plan to address the murder rates other than abolishing racism, patriarchy and misogynoir, which cannot be undone by a presidential candidate.

Grade: C

Tolerance isn’t enough to make strides when it comes to fostering a safe environment for our Black LGBTQ community members. Remember, we can’t get free if any of us are in bondage.
