Ever since Cyntoia Brown-Long was released from prison this past summer after serving 15 years, she and husband Jaime Long have been inseparable. Where she goes, he goes. He’s spoken in some of the interviews she’s had and at some of her speaking engagements, and Jaime’s face is a mainstay on her Instagram page, in photos like the one below:
And while many of Cyntoia’s supporters are happy for the love she has found, there are people who are skeptical as well. An individual commented on this photo featured of the couple on her page and told her that “He just want the fame. Just watch.”
Cyntoia caught wind of the comment and used it as an opportunity to let people know that no further disrespect of her husband would be tolerated on her page.
“Let me be clear once and for all: if you are here to disrespect my Husband, then you are disrespecting me as well. You can say what you want, but you won’t do it on MY page,” she wrote. “Jaime is an incredible man and my BEST FRIEND and I’ve spent the past three years of my life with him as my rock. When you see him at my side, it’s because he is supporting his wife–as a real man is supposed to. If you have a problem with our marriage then you can kindly see your way out of my comments, and off of my page. I don’t need your negative vibes in my notifications.”
Cyntoia has been dealing with doubts about Jaime since it was revealed that he was the ex-husband of Total singer Pam Long and after she issued a warning to Cyntoia about the type of person she claimed Jaime really is.
“This man is diabolical and he is such a manipulator,” she told The Neighborhood Talk in August. “The way this man pursued this woman is the way he did me. He came and found me using the same card, ‘He was a Christian artist.'”
“May the Lord God protect her and her money,” she continued. “It’s about who she is in the public eye and what she has. By her having this face in the media it helps him to have a chance to be around what he deems as the elites. Mr. Long may be able to hide behind his handsome looks of being a good man, but God knows the heart and exposure is coming.”
Pam further participated in that exposure by accusing Jaime of being violent both physically and sexually after he responded to her initial comments by claiming she was just trying to attach herself to the good work he and Cyntoia were doing.
As for Cyntoia though, she’s confidently stood by her man despite all that’s been said and implied about him. She’s maintained that he’s been there, even when her appeals were exhausted, a release from prison seemed like it would never happen, and she was struggling to have faith. Jaime helped her to never give up.
“My chances [of being released] were slim to none. He wrote me around that time and he told me that God was bigger than any sentence, than any judge and any jury,” she said. “At the time, I was like, ‘Okay, but if God is going to do this, why didn’t He open my appeal? Like, I understand what you’re saying, but I can’t see it.’ I didn’t understand that faith is bigger than what you can’t see.”
“I remember breaking down on the phone one day, and I felt like my chance [at freedom] seemed to be gone. It seemed like I was really going to spend the rest of my life in prison,” she added. “So I was crying and [Jaime] said, ‘What did I tell you when I first wrote you? The Lord told me to tell you that you’re going to get out. Are you going to believe in man’s [word], or are you going to believe in what God says?'”
Cyntoia and Jaime were married while she was still in prison, saying “I do” over the phone. The couple recently shut down rumors that they are expecting their first child.
