Twitter Slams Joke Of A “President” After He Compares Impeachment Inquiry To A “Lynching”
Donald Trump is continuing last-ditch. ridiculous efforts to get the public to zone in on his cancerous presidency, by claiming that the impending impeachment inquiry is akin to a lynching.
Trump used his favorite platform to spread the false equivalency on Tuesday morning.
Notwithstanding, political leaders far and wide, many of them Black Americans, whose history is inextricably linked to the centuries of white violence endured on the backs of stolen Africans, spanning from slavery, to the Jim Crow era and the post civil rights era we are living in today, condemned Trump for the gall to compare a formal proceeding invested in the Democracy of the country to a targeted, violent act of oppression.
According to the NAACP, there were 4,743 lynchings in the US between 1882 and 1968, with Black people making up roughly three-quarters of the victims. Trump’s words are egregious and neglect the history of America’s systemic violence against slaves and their descendants.
But there were a few who intend to persistently stand on the wrong side of history, one of them being Newt Gringrich. During a Tuesday morning segment on The View, the former Republican congressman decided he would take the opportunity to give a hot take on Trump’s comments, by defending them.
What made it even more disgusting was his line of reasoning, where he asked hosts Whoppi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin, two Black women, to place themselves in Trump’s shoes. A racist, bigoted political figurehead who rose to power with money, whiteness, maleness and corruption.
Twitter, who rarely suffers fools, pulled out all the receipts it could muster to make it clear that this isn’t a timed distraction and needed to be addressed swiftly. Everyone is finally sick of Trump’s s—t.
