DeWanda Wise To Star In Jurassic World 3
After the cancellation of Netflix and Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It” series, many of us wondered what might be next for actress DeWanda Wise.
Well, judging by the latest news, big things.
According to Variety, Wise will play the lead role in the third installment of the Jurassic World saga.
Wise will join Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who starred in previous films. Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, who starred in the original movie Jurassic Park will also join the cast. Mauritanian-American actor Mamoudou Athie (Sorry For Your Loss, “The Get Down”) will also participate in the film.
Steven Spielberg will executive produce the film along with Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote and directed the first Jurassic World film.
In addition to the last season of “She’s Gotta Have It,” Wise starred in another Netflix film alongside Gina Rodriguez Someone Great. She was also in the recently released romantic comedy The Weekend.
DeWanda shared her reaction to the casting news on her Instagram page.
Wise famously had to turn down a role in Marvel’s Captain America because of her commitment to “She’s Gotta Have It,” so we’re happy to see that her loyalty didn’t leave her in a lurch when it comes to this Hollywood shuffle.
Congratulations to DeWanda!
