It’s no secret that Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union are raising their kids to be comfortable expressing themselves and following their dreams knowing they will be supported and uplifted by their family. They’ve shown this most in their encouragement of son Zion, whom they attended Miami Pride with earlier this year.

Dwyane has been especially unabashedly proud of his son, despite what the public might think about it. Just this week the 37-year-old father shared a picture of his famous wife, daughter Kaavia and son Zion in his InstaStories, captioning the photo, “My Girls.”

Someone looking to start a conversation around the photo caption on Twitter, which inevitably always turns negative, asked people what they thought about what Dwyane said. To the person’s surprise, Gabrielle ended up responding, saying the photo “Looks like love to me.”

“I truly hope that everyone gets the love, support and hugs they deserve,” she added. “Also Kaav ain’t with the dumb sh-t. Peace & Blessings good people.”

The actress spoke about her way of going about parenting recently when explaining why it was important that everyone in the family go to Miami Pride in April (Dwyane had a basketball game the same day and couldn’t be present, but was vocal in his support online).

“It feels normal,” she said. “My mom took me to my first pride at eight years old. We moved to San Francisco, and it’s kind of part of being a global citizen.”

“People talk a lot about diversity and inclusion, but they don’t actually mean it,” she added. “In our household, we mean that, and that’s why the entire household went to pride.”

Dwyane, as previously mentioned, has motivated Zion to be comfortable in his skin. That was evident even in the heartfelt message he shared for his son’s 12th birthday back in May.

“Happy 12th Birthday to my mini-me Zion!” he wrote. “I’ve asked you over and over not to grow up on me and now look at you. Getting taller. Becoming more and more good looking everyday and teaching all of us along the way. I love the kid that you are and i love the young man that you’re becoming. Iam so thankful that i was chosen to be your father and guide you thru this world. Continue to be brave. Continue to be the smartest person in the room. Continue to be Zion Malachi Wade!”

How can you not love this family?
