Toni Preckwinkle To Hold First Fundraiser
(Chicago Tribune) — Halfway through her first year on the job, Democratic Cook County Board PresidentToni Preckwinkle is ready to greet political Chicago at her first major fundraiser since being sworn in. The elegant venue? Booked. Hors d’oeuvres menu? Finished. Invitations to donors not shy about writing large checks? Sent. The goal of Tuesday’s event at the Chicago Cultural Center is to raise $300,000, her political operatives say. Preckwinkle doesn’t come up for re-election until 2014, but aides say they’re laying the groundwork so that she’s well-positioned by then to ward off potential challengers.
