Xscape Fans Rejoice: The R&B Group Says They Will Make One More Album Together
Fans of 90s R&B act Xscape can now brace themselves for another album from the group.
While Tiny Harris, Kandi Burruss, LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott were being honored at the 2019 Black Music Honors, Kandi’s mom, Mama Joyce got on stage to make announcement: the group is reuniting for one more studio album.
“They still have one album left,” Mama Joyce told their fans at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.“The four of them, they started in my basement and I feel that they still have another album in them.”
The women were visibly shocked by the announcement. Atlanta Black Star asked Kandi about the stunning moment when they came off stage.
“Obviously she put us on the spot but, I mean,” Burruss told Atlanta Black Star after the award show. . “I guess we gon’ grant her her wish. I didn’t know what to say but at the same time, she put it out there, my group members are here … we gon’ make it happen … we gon’ figure it out.”
Tiny Harris chimed in with another statement adding, “Yeah, when everybody schedule get together we gon’ get in that studio.”
Mama Joyce continued to praise the women and their talents, saying that their abilities are even better than they were back in the day.
“I feel like [Kandi] just need to get with them and they need to finish that one last album. They all got the voice. They voice is just as good if not better today than it was back 25 years ago,” she said.
The idea of new music was far from Kandi’s mind back in 2018. She told MN of January of last year that she didn’t want to do any more music out of fear of tainting their legacy.
“When we were a group we had three platinum albums, all of our albums were hits, we never had a flop album and things are not how they used to be back then.”
Looks like now she’s willing to take the risk.
