R. Kelly Wants Michael Jackson’s Lawyer But Can’t Afford Him
R. Kelly feels that his current legal team attracts too much negative attention and he wants to make some changes. The Pied Piper wants to retain Michael Jackson’s former lawyer Tom Mesereau but he’s reportedly too broke to pay him. To help pay what will be a hefty bill, his team has been contacting anonymous people to help raise money to pay for Mesereau. The funders don’t mind helping but they have one condition: Kelly’s lawyer, Steven Greenberg, must be fired.
Greenberg denies these claims but according to TMZ, Kelly and Mesereau have already had a meeting at the federal prison in Illnois where Kelly is being held. Mesereau helped the King of Pop get acquitted of child molestation charges back in 2005. He is estimated to cost around $1 million.
Due to the nature of the “Ignition” singer’s charges, he needs a lawyer that is skilled in forensics and sex trafficking.
Kelly has been charged with sex crimes against children in Illnois, New York and Minnesota on the federal and state level. He was recently hit with the Minnesota charges after a woman came forward and said Kelly paid her to strip for him in his hotel room in 2001 when she was underage. He may be hit with charges in Detroit and Atlanta as well.
