31 Days of Sensuality Day 14: Your Deserve to Take Up Space!
You deserve to take up space!
Why keep yourself small when your light is so big? Let go of being afraid of being too much for other people to where you try to be less, shrink down and hope to make them feel more comfortable. I write this because for a very long time, I was afraid of taking up space and being expressive – fearing judgement. I actually grew up hating my name! I felt that I wouldn’t live up to my name, all I wanted was to have a common name and blend into the crowd.
Whew chile- I am so thankful that those days are over!
The best part about having sensual agency is that you can exercise your right to take up space in any capacity that works for you. Let me say this loud for sis in the back – SENSUALITY IS SELF LOVE! You can express it as having big and unapologetic energy. You can take up space at work, on dates, the way you dress, through your words and your physical expression. In whatever way you do it, let your presence be known. Occupy space with confidence.
“Beauty is to recognize how full of Love you are. Sensuality is to let some of that Love shine through your body.” ― Nityananda Das
For me, taking up space starts in the morning as you get dressed. You have to activate all of your goodness before you present yourself to the world. I say this because iif you don’t you allow yourself to be susceptible to other people’s negative energy and opinion of you- which shouldn’t matter! I like to take my time when I get dressed – I make it a ritual to put on my makeup, running my fingers through my braids and even adding extra glitter on my skin so I can shine bright. Sometimes I’ll even take a few nude selfies- just because i’m feeling myself. Experiencing my own interaction with my own body is a celebratory event. Once I do my daily practice, I feel like I can conquer even more! I’m ready to take up space in every inch of my life.
That’s it ya’ll- it’s literally that easy!
Honor yourself everyday by taking part of the ritual of being a woman. Make a practice out of getting dressed slowly and turn yourself on. Then go out into the world and take up space. Do what you are meant to do. Be bold , witty, intelligent and enterprising! And remember to NEVER apologize for being you! When you give yourself permission to be all of these things and more, you give others permission to do the same!
