“I’ll Be Married Before My Album Comes Out:” Nicki Minaj Says She’ll Be Tying The Knot In The Next 80 Days
Nicki Minaj will be going from Ms. to Mrs. within the next 80 days. The “Megatron” rapper made the revelation on Monday night’s installment of Queen Radio.
According to the 36-year-old rapstress, she and boyfriend Kenneth Petty previously applied for a marriage license; however, due to travel commitments, the license expired.
“I have not [eloped]” Nicki told co-host TS Madison. “We filed for the marriage license and we still had to pick it up and I was traveling, by the time I came back, we had to renew it again,” she explained. “From that time, you have 90 days to get married. That was about a week ago, so now I have about 80 days.”
The Queens-born rapper says that she won’t be spending time on an elaborate ceremony because she’s focusing on her career right now, but she says she will be throwing a big wedding in due time. For now, fans can expect a small ceremony.
“I have to work on my album and I have a lot to focus on that I don’t want to do the big wedding now. We’ll do the big wedding later. I’ll be married before my album comes out, but will have my wedding after the album comes out,” the rapper revealed. “Before the 90 days is over, yes, I will be married. I’m very happy about that because my baby makes me so happy,” the rapper said.
As for her hubby-to-be, Nicki says he definitely makes her happy.
“He’s very much a street person and everybody automatically think he’s mean. He’s not mean, he’s just not used to playing games y’all are used to playing,” she said. “I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”
With a new marriage and a new album on the way, the second half of 2019 will definitely be busy for Nicki. The Trini New York native has been under fire since introducing the masses to her boyfriend who, according to the New York Division of Criminal Justice Services database, is a registered sex offender. As we previously reported, “He was reportedly convicted in 1995 of attempted rape in the first degree after using a weapon to carry out his assault against a minor. He was, at the time, 16, and was sentenced to between 18 to 54 months in state prison and served almost four years in a New York State prison.”
