Wendy Williams On Ex Kevin Hunter’s Baby: “I Wish Him The Best In His New Life With His New Family”
Wendy Williams cleared up some things about her split from Kevin Hunter while visiting Sway’s Universe this week. She stated that while she did file for divorce, they haven’t gotten very far in the process. Still, the 55-year-old said she wanted to maintain a friendship with him because the love she had for him was and is still very real.
“I want a divorce like yesterday, I want a divorce two months ago, three months ago. Whenever I found out, four months ago,” she said. “I want a divorce, and I want to be friends with Kevin. I mean, and not because we have a son but because that was real love. I still love him, just not in that way.”
“You’re either in or you’re out with me,” she added. “I still have love for him and I wish him the best in his new life with his new family.”
When they thought Williams was about to break into tears after saying “family,” she actually held back a laugh.
As for what she’s learned from her split with Hunter, Williams said she realizes that the next man she dates needs to be successful and self-sufficient. He can be young (she’s open to 25 and up), but he needs to be able to do for himself — and sign a prenuptial agreement, because she didn’t have one with Hunter.
“I didn’t think it would end, first of all, and second of all, that is not sexy to introduce paperwork when you’re in love with somebody,” she said. “I would choose differently this time. I’m 55. I don’t want to be with someone who wants to be a rapper. If you see me on a date with a 32-year-old, please don’t mistake that for anything other than we’re on a date. What I need is the comfort of a man whose got his own.”
Overall though, whether she’s dating or not, Williams said she’s in a good place, despite the rough few months she’s been having.
“I don’t have a choice,” she said. “I’m allergic to people who lay down and stay down. I don’t know them.”
“There’s nothing wrong with crying and, you know, kicking your feet and kicking and screaming and stuff but you’ve got 10 seconds to do that, and then get up and go,” she added.
